Rev. Gavin Beers, Pastor
Rev. Gavin Beers is a native of Northern Ireland and a graduate of the Free Church Seminary, Inverness, Scotland. From 2006 until 2018, Rev. Beers was the minister of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) congregation at Ayr, in the southwest of Scotland. He is married and is the father of six children.
Cornerstone Presbyterian Church is under the oversight of a Session consisting of Rev. Gavin Beers, Moderator, with Elder James Wanliss, Assessor Elder and Elder Randall Taylor, Assessor Elder. The members of the Session also compose the Deacons’ Court.
Andy Davenport is the congregational Treasurer.
In 2012 the Presbytery organized a preaching station at Mebane, North Carolina, which is known locally as Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. The preaching station was raised to a sanctioned charge in 2016. Pulpit supply was provided by visiting ministers until 4th May 2018 when Rev. Gavin Beers was inducted as the congregation’s first minister.
The Lord’s Supper is administered twice per year. The current communion schedule is the fourth Sabbath of March and September. There is a special preparation service on the Saturday before each communion Sunday at 7 PM.
