Family Conference Speakers
As the Lord provides, we hope in future conferences to have two guest speakers each year: one returning speaker and one new to our Conference.
For this year's conference, we are pleased to have Rev. Maurice J. Roberts and Rev. Davide Ratti as our keynote speakers.
Rev. Maurice J. Roberts
Rev. Maurice J. Roberts was born at Chester, England in 1938. He was educated at Durham University. After teaching Latin and Greek in secondary schools in Scotland, he studied theology at the Free Church of Scotland College, Edinburgh. He was the minister of Ayr Free Church of Scotland from 1974 to 1994, and then of the Greyfriars Congregation, Inverness, since 2000 a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing).
He was editor of The Banner of Truth magazine from 1988 to 2003 and is the author of the Trust's publications The Thought of God, The Christian's High Calling, Great God of Wonders, Can We Know God?, and Finding Peace with God: Justification Explained.
Maurice Roberts was Moderator of the General Assembly of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) in 2007. He retired from the pastoral ministry in December 2010. He has been Lecturer in Greek and New Testament at the Free Church Seminary since 2002. He is married to Sandra, and has one daughter and two grandchildren.
Rev. Davide Ratti
Rev. Davide Ratti was born in 1965 in Tortona, a small town of the Piedmont Region of Northern Italy. He studied Accountancy and also earned a Diploma in Piano from the Music Academy of Alessandria.
He was raised in a Christian family which attended a Brethren Assembly. After he was married in 1990, he moved to Cremona where he worked as an accountant. Meanwhile he was involved in the local church in which he became an elder.
In 1995 Davide joined the Committee of an Italian Reformed Publishing House. It was then that he came to a better understanding of the Doctrines of Grace and felt more clearly a call to the Ministry.
He later moved with the family to Scotland where he studied Theology at the Free Church Continuing Seminary from which he graduated in 2011. He was ordained to the ministry of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) and inducted to the congregation of Duthil-Dores in 2012.
Davide is married to Debora and they have three daughters.
